Heather is the author of Diamonds in the Dark. She was born on September 14, 1956. She was the eldest of three sisters and grew up in a loving Christian family in England. She studied at Gypsy Hill Teachers Training College in Kingston, (not far from Wimbledon, where the English tennis finals are held each year). It was during her final year at college that she met Len Magee, who was one of Britain’s most loved gospel singers at that time. As the prayer secretary in the Christian Union, she booked Len to sing at one of their college outreaches. He was also Pastor of a large church in the South of England. Well! It was love at first sight. From selling Len’s gospel albums in the local Christian bookshop, she became his wife! They married in July 1977 at Heather’s home church, Halford House, in Richmond (just outside of London). Len and Heather have now been in ministry together for almost 40 years. Len preaches and teaches. Heather leads the worship team, writes many of the worship songs they sing and plays keyboard in the band. Sometimes she also preaches. They are currently living on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, in one of the most beautiful parts of the most spectacular countries in the world. (Well, someone has to)!
Heather Magee has taken us to the depths of human suffering with its sickness, trauma, pain, doubts, and fears. Many who read its pages will truly relate to the authenticity of the physical and emotional suffering that Heather so honestly describes. However, she has not left us there to languish in its dreaded clutches. She has given us answers. Heather also provokes us to believe again and to find Jesus in a way that perhaps would never have happened. She offers us a heartfelt and genuinely balanced theology for our suffering from both a human and God perspective. I found this book riveting in its content. Writing with total transparency from a pure heart, she forms a picture that will both inspire and encourage weary, suffering travelers and give them new hope and a future.
This is more than a book. It really is a life map to guide those on a similar journey and learn from its ruthlessly honest pages; how to cope, where to turn and how to remain steadfast when going through the valley experience. I commend this book very highly, from one who has also traveled the journey and found the sweetness of Jesus and His Grace in every situation.
